Panorama 2 by dancewiththesky Panorama 2 by dancewiththesky
Latest update: Panorama 2 beta released! This is a complete rewrite with new color adjustment features and a redesigned interface, It's still in beta! To use the new advanced features, you need a modern computer with a relatively fast processor and Firefox 3.5 or later. There are still some rough edges and your feedback is very welcome.

The deviation shown in this preview is from the very beautiful gallery of =nilemaster's.

What is this?
This is a Mozilla Firefox extension that adds an image viewer to deviantART interface with support for panning (like Photoshop's hand tool,) interactive zooming, various color and contrast adjustment tools for more convenient full views. It's handy for viewing large deviations. This is part of the deviantEXPERIENCE extension series.

How to install?
[Click Here To Install] (requires Firefox or a compatible browser)

How to use it?
Click the Panorama View link to the left of the deviation. Grab (click and drag) the deviation to move it around. Use your mouse wheel to zoom in and out the deviation; or if you don't have one use the zoom icons or the zoom slider at the bottom right corner. Various color and contrast adjustment tools are available from the icon row on the left

Important stuff!
It's HIGHLY recommended that you use this extension with Firefox 3.5 or later because it has a fast JavaScript implementation that's very beneficial to the image processing tools included. The new features are resource intensive processing-wise and will perform slow on older/slower computers. The original functionality (panning and zoom) is still very fast as it was, on even on older machines.

I can't use it.
I installed it, I'm using the newest version of Firefox, everything else is up-to-date as well.
Do you have an idea what could be wrong?
Because really would love to use this.

Another great extension. Seriously, I can see so many advantages to this. Like when looking for stock, I can adjust colors, hue and saturation, right here to see if the image will fit what I am wanting to do. Could I suggest a button that returns everything to normal though. Thanks for this. Keep them coming.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you find it useful. There is support for undoing size and/or color change (the icon with 1 on a magnifying glass to restore original size and a button for undo below it.)

I actually used your blue elephant for testing while developing this extension!

Btw. You know what would be grand? If Panorama would actually use the downloadble image to pan and zoom around, if there is one. Like here [link]

It all appears to work, but it's so damn slow! Any way to make use of C++ or lower-level image manipulation techniques in your extension?

Oh yeah, apparently today's "fast" JavaScript implementations in browsers are not fast at all! There is indeed a potential to use native image processing code using Native Client (which is cross-browser but requires the user to install a plugin and it's not ready yet!) or the Mozilla-specific XPCOM. Even though I was writing and testing mainly for Firefox, I always had in mind that eventually I'll start testing against other (standards-aware) browsers and work out any issues. So much for Web 2.0!

This update is great!

I love it so much

Although some of the image adjustments (color/brightness/and things) tend to take a little time to kick in. But I mostly use it to size things just right and then drag it around my monitor :)

So thanks for this update :)

This is awesome. I use it all the time.

My only suggestion would be that maybe we could rotate images? It's not the most important feature, but there are lots of times when there are deviations that need to be looked at upside down or backwards, (f ex [link] ) and I think it would be nice to be able to do that in-browser.

D: I click the flip button and nothing happens.

Also the color balance, B/C and HSV modules aren't doing anything. I move the sliders and click the checkmark and nothing happens.

Does this happen on every deviation or a spefic deviation? Do you run the latest version of firefox (3.5.2)?

Also try the following:
- Press Shift+Ctrl+J and press "Clear"
- Open a deviation and click Panorama View.
- Go back to the "Console" window and click "Errors". Is there anything there?

I updated my firefox and now it works. XP Sorry, didn't realize I was out of date.
Hate to be demanding, but is it possible to get rotation as well (as opposed to flipping)?

Thanks for all your work!

yeah, I think just 90 degree right and left turns would be fine (assuming that if I click it twice it would turn it 180 degrees, etc).
